Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss
CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake Public Library was transformed into a circus from Dr. Seuss’ book “If I Ran the Circus” Monday night to help celebrate the legendary author’s birthday.
“A circus theme is fun because you can have popcorn, all kinds of games and balloons,” said Martha Boyes, youth services librarian.
And that’s exactly what the birthday party included. Children ate popcorn, colored, listened to Seuss’ stories and played games such as ringtoss and beanbag toss. Someone dressed as “The Cat in the Hat” was also on hand.
“I like it,” said Maddie MacNeilly, 7, of Clear Lake about the birthday party. “I like that we get to wear these funny hats.”
Many of the children wore tall red and white hats like in Seuss’ book, “The Cat in the Hat.”
She and her sister, Gabbie, 7, said they enjoy Seuss books.
“I like that it’s a bunch of funny words,” Gabbie said.
Liz Vogt, Clear Lake, said her four children enjoy Seuss books, too.
