Mom caught on cam encouraging son to fight speaks out, admits mistake

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Caught on tape – a mother was recently arrested after apparently encouraging her teenage son to fight.

Someone posted video of the fight on YouTube. It shows the fight lasts a few minutes and you can hear Quanesha Mullins tell her son where to hit another teen.

Deputies with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office arrested Mullins after the video was brought to the department's attention. She was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and child abuse.

Mullins knows what she did was wrong, but said her actions stemmed from months of her son being bullied at school, on the bus and in her neighborhood.

"I don't advocate child violence - but it was to the point that my child needed me and I had to do what I had to do," explained Mullins. "In hindsight, I know it was wrong. But I just feel like if he defends himself, maybe they will stop targeting him."

Mullins said her son has been bullied since early December with most of the incidents happening on the school bus.  The mother claimed she reported the problem to school officials but didn't get much help.
