Trinity packs a punch with early knockout of Bassick
STAMFORD -- If you were to offer odds on which was more likely to happen, that the Trinity Catholic boys basketball team would defeat Bassick by 35 points or that the Crusaders' Tremain Frazier would be meeting with reporters after the game, the smart money would have stayed away all together.
As it turned out, Tuesday night provided a longshot daily double that went hand-in-hand. In a near-flawless performance, the Crusaders scored the game's first nine points and rolled to a surprisingly easy 91-56 win behind a career-high 21 points from Frazier, a sophomore who got his first extended playing time and suddenly has become a key figure to his team's season.
Making the decisiveness of the outcome even more startling: the Crusaders were coming off a flat effort that resulted in a loss to Fairfield Warde last Friday night.
"This was a great team performance," Trinity coach Mike Walsh said in an upbeat locker room. "After the game against Warde in which we played so unemotionally, I think we came out tonight and wanted to prove something and play well."
