Rotary Club of The Woodlands honors Chance at Wine Dinner
Sounds like another successful event for South County Rotarians.
A sold-out crowd was on hand for this year’s Wine Dinner, the club’s sixth, honoring longtime Rotarian and retiring County Commissioner Ed Chance. Attorney and political adviser Nelda Luce Blair and Montgomery County Republican Party Chair Dr. Walter Wilkerson Jr. led the tributes for Chance, sharing stories from his long and successful career serving the citizens of Montgomery County.
Wine Dinner Co-Chairs Ann Wolford and Mary Matteson Parrish outdid themselves this year, putting on a five-star evening, to be sure. The foodies in attendance swooned over the blue cheese cheesecake with figs and honey that capped a gourmet meal. The wines of Medlock Ames Winery from The Alexander Valley in California and Flat Creek Estate Vineyards from our own Texas Hill Country were sipped and sampled all evening. Auctioneer Judy Larson sold many of the high-ticket items twice (with permission of the donors, of course), much to the delight of Woodlands Rotarians, who will use proceeds from the wine dinner to fund their many programs within the community. Congratulations to all involved, and our best wishes to Commissioner Chance!
