100th birthday celebration
FORDMILL resident Mrs Christina Jardine celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday.
Christina, known as Ina, was born in Rhu near Helensburgh the second of seven children. As a child she enjoyed music, painting and tennis.
She worked as a book keeper until she married her husband, Bill, in 1941 in Rhu Church where they lived until 1951 when they moved to Bank of Scotland House in Edzell.
There Ina continued her interest in music by playing both the organ and the piano. She also enjoyed singing and gardening.
After moving to Edzell, Ina took up golf and often played with friends including Marion Inglis who joined her at the birthday celebrations.
When Bill retired, the couple moved to Orchard in Edzell where she spent her time designing and maintaining her meticulous garden.
Ina and Bill were married for 57 years before Bill passed away. After some ill health Ina moved into Fordmill 10 years ago where she has been well looked after since.
