What Not To Give A Vegan For Christmas
Shopping for vegan Christmas gifts can be tricky. Vegans do not eat, wear or consume animal or animal-based products and avoid using products that are from companies that do animal testing. This can make shopping for a vegan a bit of a mine field to navigate.
In terms of apparel, there are the more commonly known materials like leather, fur, silk, wool, angora, cashmere, down and other feathers, and suede that are not vegan. Any products that contain these materials are not suitable gifts for vegans.
While suede is not vegan, microsuede is a manmade fabric and totally vegan.
Look for things that say manmade, synthetic, faux leather and one good guideline to go by is, if you don’t recognize an ingredient or material, just don’t buy it. There are plenty of products to choose from.
Steer clear of bee products like beeswax found in lip balms.
Some common gifts not to buy – do not buy leather bags, wallets or shoes, belts, no wool gloves or hats made from wool yarn, no cashmere, wool, or angora sweaters, no down comforters or down coats, no silk scarves or shirts. Look at trims that might be leather or fur.
