GIRLS' HOOPS: West York rallies, ousts Eastern from districts
West York girls' basketball coach Jon Shultz is clearly an eternal optimist.
Even when his players admittedly didn't believe in themselves, Shultz never gave up hope.
Down by 15 points entering the fourth quarter in their District 3-AAA playoff opener against Eastern York, no one figured Shultz' team had a chance. Not even some of his players.
The veteran West York coach, however, had confidence.
That confidence did not go for naught as the Bulldogs pulled off perhaps the most memorable comeback in school history Wednesday night. Senior guard Olivia Manges' runner from the foul line fell through the basket, capping a 15-point comeback as the buzzer sounded after regulation time and sent a packed house at West York High School into a frenzy.
Then behind a pair of freshmen guards, the home team continued its onslaught in overtime at the foul line. Kari Lankford and Emily Wood knocked down all eight of their free throws during the four-minute overtime to help Shultz and
