Happy Valentine's pay
Flower and gift shops are kicking business into high gear as Valentine's Day, one of the busiest holidays for flower giving, quickly approaches.
"It's fun, it's crazy. If you aren't busy right now, you're doing something wrong," said The Basketcase and Flower Shop owner Jodi Camp.
She said their top request remains flowers, mostly red roses, the traditional flower to signify romantic love.
About 110 million roses are sold each year in the three-day period around Valentine's Day and 73 percent are purchased by men.
Camp said they sometimes try to talk people into picking a different color, but red roses seem to be what men prefer to buy for the women in their lives.
If flowers aren't her thing, The Basketcase also offers unique candy and cookie bouquets and can make gift baskets that include bath and body products, gourmet snacks, even chocolate truffles.
Camp suggests a basket of favorite snacks is a great gift for men, who often get left out on this female-focused holiday.
