Local Flower Shops Gear Up for Valentine's Day
Love is in the air-especially at tri-boro flower shops-as the area prepares for Valentine's Day next week.
Ed DeVito, owner of Bloomingdale Florist , said the Main Street flower shop will be taking delivery orders even on Valentine's Day, but that he encourages customers to buy in advance.Â
"It's always better to order earlier," he said.
DeVito said he has already received many orders for Monday so that customers can have their flowers for the entire day to enjoy on Valentine's Day.
While customers prefer different types of flowers for their loved ones, "roses are No. 1" on Valentine's Day still, DeVito said. Carnations follow closely behind as the second most popular Valentine's Day flower in the tri-boro, DeVito said.
Vesna Ilic, owner of Vesna's Blooming Boutique in Bloomingdale, said mixed vases are popular with her customers.
"Very pretty, very feminine, very loving bouquets," she said about the flowers.
